About Me

Hi, my name is Jan Lange, I'm originally from a small city in northern Germany. My glass working career started with moving to Lauscha - a famous European hub for making glass - where I studied to become a lampworker. There I learned the beautiful art of working with fire and glass. After successfully completing my apprenticeship, I founded my own small company selling my glass art in Germany. In September 2016 I moved to Finland and have been living for most of the time in Oulu, where I studied Finnish language and culture at OSAO. Later on I worked at a few companies, mainly in the woodworking field and other production companies. But the fire for working with glass never died! What really inspires me in lampworking is using fire as a tool itself - bending the glass to my vision with flames. Seeing the blue sparks of the torch calms me down and helps me enter my creative flow. Since my passion is still strong, I've been preparing to get my own lampworking shop on its tracks. With this website I want to introduce you to the German/Finnish way of working with glass. I hope my pieces will light a love in you towards the art of lampworking.
